With a Ph.D. in Bioengineering and a creative spirit, A.J. is the founder of Ronawk LLC, a biotech company focused on developing medical innovations for patients using their own stem cells and tissues. He as over a decade of experience of working with adult stem cells. His graduate work focused on manipulating stem cells isolated from the umbilical cord to function as mechanosensory hair cells, which facilitate hearing in humans. His postdoc focused on the study of decellularized tissues and recreating the original tissue architecture to facilitate tissue repair and regeneration.
In 2015, A.J. conceived the original concept that is that gave rise to the development of T-Blocks. His research became the foundation for Ronawk LLC. The original idea centered on growing stem cells in a 3D environment indefinitely while maintaining stem cell characteristics. A.J. found a way to achieve his goals by developing an interlocking modular substrate that enabled him to grow virtually any stem cell population in 3D. He leverage the use of T-Blocks to mass expand stem cells from a small population without the need for passaging. With further research and refinement, A.J. has found a way to use his T-Blocks for regenerative medicine applications related to spinal cord injuries, wounds, and burns.
A.J. has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, and is the inventor of several pending/issued patents. He has presented at several national conferences and given invited talks abroad.
